If the Pill killed your two-year-old...

If an ox gores a man or a woman to death, the ox shall surely be stoned and its flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall go unpunished. If, however, an ox was previously in the habit of goring and its owner has been warned, yet he does not confine it and it kills a man or a woman, the ox shall be stoned and its owner also shall be put to death. - Exodus 21:28, 29

Under the post on Roe v. Wade's forty-second anniversary, one brother commented that he thought the Church's indifference to the slaughter of the unborn is the result of church members aborting our children using chemical means. It doesn't feel like an abortion when you don't have to go somewhere and pay a ghoul to rip your baby apart. Pills do it, so you're not confronted with all the drama of escorts and protesters and people dealing with your body down there.

He's right. The Pill is used by everyone everywhere in the church and even the most pro-life pastors have cultivated ignorance of the Pill's abortifacient function. If you get pastors to admit the Pill has any abortifacient agency at all, they try to weasel their way back into protecting their own and their congregants' lifestyles by pointing out the Pill's main agency is to prevent conception, and only rarely does it work by detaching the baby from his mother's body and flushing him down the toilet.

Then they go on and talk about how prevalent...

risk is in our lives, and if the goal of the couple using the Pill is not to kill their baby, but only to prevent his conception, they are not guilty of murder if they are the one of the few couples that kill their baby. Life has all kinds of risks and it wasn't their intent to kill their baby, so God will understand. A very smart Reformed pastor defended Christians using the Pill despite its documented abortifacient agency to me by comparing that agency to the risks of a pregnant woman exercising or driving a car. "Are we to stop living because it might cause an abortion," was his serious argument in favor of Christians using the Pill.

One good way to test our sincerity in opposing the bloodshed of unborn babies is to see if our attitude would be the same if the discussion concerned our two-year or five-year-old? For instance, would we take the Pill to prevent our two-year-old from having a younger brother or sister if we knew there was a chance the Pill would kill our two-year-old?

And of course, the question is laughable. NO ONE EVER WOULD TAKE THE PILL IN THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES.

So why are we all taking the Pill and murdering our unborn Covenant children? Why have we cultivated ignorance concerning the Pill's abortifacient agency? Why do Right-to-Life non-profits not count or (seemingly) care about the increasing slaughter of unborn children through the agency of ECPs?

If you are like your Heavenly Father in hating the bloodshed of innocents, you need to study the abortifacient agency of the Pill and ECPs at least as carefully as you study the the labels of the food you buy for your children and yourself. Every Reformed church member in the country can give you a better description of the (false) dangers of gluten sensitivity1 than the (real) dangers of the Pill and ECPs, and that is scandalous.

As our brother said, no wonder the Church is silent about abortion.
