Every time you use a website, or install a piece of software, you're forced to state that you've read and agree to terms of service that are often tens of thousands of words long. No one reads those things, even though all the big companies—from Apple to Microsoft to Facebook—have them. If you're anything like me, you blithely go along with the farce so that you can actually do something useful with your computer. We've all been trained to lie, and this pervasive lie has been mentioned on this blog a time or two over the years.
I'm hopeful that a new service entitled "Terms of Service; Didn't Read" bears good fruit. Here's their manifesto, listed on their homepage: "“I have read and agree to the Terms” is the biggest lie on the web. We aim to fix that." Check them out!
