(Tim) This past week, I heard about a young man who, about two weeks ago, dared to give a speech that was pertinent to the lives of those listening in his public school classroom. He spoke against the slaughter of the little ones in their mothers' wombs in his speech class and got a 'D' for his good and brave efforts. I wrote his Dad and asked for a short account to encourage all of us to visit the poor, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and break the jaw of the wicked, snatching his victims from his mouth to safety.
His father...

The speech was researched and had five primary sources. He managed to convince a student or two he practiced the speech with to change sides on this issue.
His English Honors teacher was a young, female, progressive, pro-choice, (state university) grad. The die was cast. Yet, I was astonished at the grade and how it came to be. First of all, (my son) was denied visual aids while others were allowed to use them. Secondly, he got an 'A' on his rough draft, got a 'B' on the actual speech, but she failed him on bibliography and.... "preparedness"? How can one get an 'A' on rough draft and 'B' on the speech itself, yet claim he was unprepared?
The bottom line is we are certain he was not given a fair shake. We told him this would be the case going in due to the subject and environment he is in. However, he was determined to give the speech anyway. We heard the speech and it was on mark. We checked it out before it left the house.
However, should we expect the seed of the serpent to all of a sudden embrace life, light and the seed of the woman? Only by divine grace. I think this as been a wonderful lesson for (our son). We're behind enemy lines. There is a cost to discipleship, but great is his inheritance.
