Tim,
Thank you for this lengthy post. Me and my wife lost our daughter Abigail in June of 2008, she only lived 9 days in our presence. She died of a heart defect. This last year has been extremely hard on us as well as my wife lost her dad during Thanksgiving and my wife had brain surgery this spring though she hasn't died from it. We are weary and heavy-laden alot of the time. We still press into Jesus to find that rest he offers.

Sincerely,
Paul Schafer

Dear Mr. Schafer,

May God pour His mercy into your heart, marriage, and home, dear brother. I'm so very sorry to hear of the difficult things you've suffered, but your sanctification through them must be glorious. You and your wife ought to have much on us in Heaven.

Love,

I'm Elizabeth's father. It was a good sermon. One thing to keep in mind readig it is that the funeral attracted a wide variety of people, including many who do not attend church, and that Pastor Bayly could guess this in advance and was trying to speak to many different hearts. That diversity of audience is probably a feature of funeral sermons generally.

To God be the glory for such sound teaching. We may have power, money or influence but the Lord Jesus Christ is our only hope. Thanks brother for the sermon. I have read it and am blessed.
