Our dogs, ourselves...
(by Tim) Yoohoo! Earth to Richmond! Someone needs to speak up for Michael Vick and tell all the wackos outside the courthouse dissing him that he has the right to do what he wants with his dog. If he wants to electrocute or shoot his pit bull, that's his choice and some group of old white men have no right making laws against it, let alone arresting and making a public spectacle of him before the watching world.
I mean, Vick isn't forcing anyone else to electrocute their dog. He's just exercising his very personal choice to do what he wants with his own dog.
Think about it. Any idiot can see dogs aren't fully persons. They can't write or converse or take philosophy courses. In fact, aside from Princeton's Peter Singer, few people in their right minds would put a dog on the same level even as an unborn or newborn child. And there's no law against killing babies, is there?
It's hypocrisy for the PETA wackos to have a hissy-fit over Vick electrocuting his dog while, at the same time, defending his right to use knives to cut up, and then an Electrolux to suck out of his wife's womb, his unborn baby.
And really, think of all the unwanted dogs wandering city streets...
this very day when the temperature across the country is above ninety degrees and the relative humidity is near one hundred percent. Ask yourself the question: If you were a dog, would you want to live an unwanted life, regularly spending the day in a hot car or exposed to the hot sun in the back yard with no water dish nearby? What if you could choose between that pitiful existence and going out in style, another pit bull doing what God made him to do--namely, sinking his teeth into your neck and hanging on until you roll over, dead? Is there even one among us who wouldn't chose death with dignity?
As the august Justice Stevens would say, if we take away Michael Vick's ability to make these most personal
of all decisions, what kind of meaningful existence would he have left?
Where are the emenations and penumbras when you really need them?--that's what I'd like to know.

You have shown me the light! I was going to boycott all NFL games this year until they did something about Mr. Vick's violation of their decency clause. But now I see how wrong my attitude has been.
*long heavy sigh* I'm glad I don't have to miss my Sunday afternoon naps. . . . .

Don't forget this old nugget:
"If you oppose electrocuting dogs, don't do it to yours."

This reminds me. I caught a smidgen of Rush Limbaugh the other day in my car, and he was doing almost the exact same routine. It was good of him to point out this disconnect or hypocrisy and to make abortion such a central point to this case.
Usually my wife won't stand to have Rush Limbaugh on in her hearing. This may be a "good thing."

Gosh, dogs are not as precious as an unborn baby but I do not believe that dogs were put on earth to be treated poorly. I pray that our country will change their laws for human life.
Does anyone know if there were any protests for the rights of the unborn at that courthouse?

Thank you Tim. God, please open our eyes.

Just an FYI...most serial killers start at a young age with animals..they just graduate to humans. I wonder if Michael Vick abuses women?
Thank you for the insight into your heart...really really sad.

There was a letter to the editor in our paper a week or so ago. It was from a woman who passed a turtle on the road and went back to save the turtle (have you ever seen a turtle on the road and just know that it will be hit?). When she got there, she found a young man already moving the turtle off the road. He told her that eight other people (if I remember correctly) had stopped for the same purpose. She thought this was wonderfully encouraging. (We won't even get into the Great Dog Breed Right-to-life Debate that is sturring our great city all summer.)
On my way back to work from Planned Parenthood yesterday, having finally talked to the one person that God brought to me, I saw a young robin just near the curb on Second Street. Cars whizzed by it one right after the other. It sat very still. It made me think about that turtle and its 10 rescuers. Then it made me think of how few people attempt to rescue the 10 or 20 babies who are killed every week at Planned Parenthood.
I think, Morgan, that Tim is just trying to give us a little perspective, don't you?
Kindly, and somewhat desparingly,
Rachel

Yes, and serial killers abuse animals. Fact is, a man who commits the crimes Vick is accused of is likely to be a serial killer already. But the so-called law won't appoint a grand jury, file charges, arrest, try, sentence, or execute him because his victims are voiceless and defenseless unborn children he fathered and then hired a serial killer to murder. And the name of the company the serial killer works for is likely to be Planned Parenthood. And the majority of white collar educated Christians in his community are likely, also, to support that serial killer's work financially through their annual giving to United Way.
The execution of tens of millions of these little babies and their blood running through the streets of these United States for decades, now, is indeed sad, Mr. Farmer.

Apparently, a NFL team donated 30k to Planned Parenthood:

No real surprises there - PP is a United Way Agency and UW has been partnering with the NFL for donkey's years.
Rich in irony, though, isn't it?

You know, I just heard yesterday that Planned Parenthood was begun by a woman who was a Eugenic and a racist. Her plan was to put these "centers for women's rights" and "free choice" into every "black neighborhood" so that they would be more likely to choose to kill their babies, thus slowly and legally eliminating the black race! How sick is that?!

Just because one injustice is perpetuated on the unborn does not mean that it is OK to cruelly torture another lesser creature. Most people outgrow getting their jollies from torturing animals around middle school. As for Mr. Vick et al, I cannot explain their behavior.
